U-Roy "Jah son of Africa" :

Un incontournable du Roots reggae , "Jah son of Africa" de U-Roy, son 8° album sorti en 1978 sur le label Virgin produit par Tony Robinson.

U-Roy c'est du gros dub et du gros roots en même temps, un des djs les plus ancients, bien que Sir Lord Comic et King Stitt l'ont précédés, c'est lui qui est à l'origine du deejaying ( en tout cas de sa reconnaissance au niveau international).

U Roy de son vrai nom Ewart Beckford ou de son surnom "The Generator"est né le 21 septembre 1942 à Jones Town en Jamaïque.

Il commence en 1961 avec King Tubby en tant que DJ de Sound System.
